How Can I Afford to Bring a Malpractice Case?
The way that I charge for medical malpractice case and the way that most attorneys that specialize in this field do are on a contingent fee basis. That basically means the client doesn’t pay any attorney’s fees up front. The client doesn’t pay any of the costs up front. The attorney, in exchange for taking a percentage of the recovery if you have a recovery, will advance all the fees and costs. The reason that we do that on these medical malpractice cases is just because most people couldn’t afford to bring them. They would be cost prohibitive. The cost in these cases because of the expert witness fees that are involved typically go into the tens of thousands of dollars.
